Dreamt up by professional snowboarder Travis Rice some years ago, the world-renowned Natural Selection Tour highlights the top athletes in snowboarding on some of the most challenging natural terrains and each year continues to grow. In this year's tour, hand-selected snowboarders will showcase their progression in dynamic venues for the third consecutive year.
The 2023 tour includes three stages: DUELS, YETI Natural Selection at Revelstoke, and Natural Selection at Valdez, Alaska. Natural Selection DUELS featured 24 of the best riders going head-to-head in twelve one-day championships starting on February 19, designed to bring out max-creativity in riders’, highlighting new zones and snowboarding’s diverse styles.
Half of the 24 DUELS competitors were set on their way to Revelstoke followed by Alaska by March 3. Those riders are Kimmy Fasani, Elena Hight, Hailey Langland and Zoi Sadowski-Synnott for the women riders and Ben Ferguson, Mikkel Bang, Dustin Craven, Blake Paul, Jared Elston, Travis Rice and Torstein Horgmo in the men’s field.
The YETI Stage-two found itself at Revelstoke from March 4–11, where the athletes waited paitently for mother nature to permit a day to ride. Luckily this came early on in the week, and on March 6 the competitors got to heli up to the top of 'Boulder Park', in the Selkirk Tangiers tenure, ready to drop.
The finals pitted Blake Paul against Travis Rice and Elena Hight against Zoi Sadowski-Synnott. Although Blake and Elena put down some, what seemed, unbeatable runs, Travis and Zoi came out on top with some history making lines down the face of Boulder Park tenure, something celebrated by all athletes with awe and excitement.
The next stop for the 12 riders of Revelstoke Natural Selection; the Chugach Mountain Range of Valdez, Alaska. This will be an all-new Natural Selection Tour super final, and one not to miss. Once again, at mother nature's calling, the window for the final head-to-head will be March 25 - April 1st.
